A Personal Thank You to Those Who Serve
To our active service members,
I want to begin with a simple but heartfelt message: thank you.
Your willingness to serve our country—to stand in defense of our freedoms and way of life—is something that deserves the highest level of respect. The sacrifices you make, both seen and unseen, are not lost on me or the community I represent.
As your Amador County District 5 Supervisor, I am honored to serve a community that includes men and women like you—individuals who have chosen a path of service, responsibility, and courage.
“Your commitment to this country is what makes everything we enjoy here at home possible.”
A Life Rooted in Amador County
For those who may not know me, my name is Brian Oneto. I am a fourth-generation resident of Amador County, a rancher, a small business owner, and I’ve had the privilege of serving as your District 5 Supervisor for over 15 years.
My family’s roots in this county go back to the Gold Rush. Like many families here, we’ve built our lives on hard work, personal responsibility, and a deep respect for the land and the community.
My wife Janine and I raised our four children here in Amador County. Today, three of them have chosen to stay and build their lives here as well, including one raising the next generation of our family.
This is more than just where I serve—it’s home.
“The values we defend as a nation are the same values we strive to live by right here in Amador County.”
A Family Tradition of Service
My respect for those in uniform is personal.
My father served in World War II, and my father-in-law served during the Korean Conflict. Growing up, I saw firsthand the character, discipline, and sacrifice that military service instills.
Those experiences shaped my appreciation for what it means to serve something greater than yourself.
Today, when I speak with active service members or veterans, I carry that same respect with me. I understand that service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off—and that communities like ours have a responsibility to support those who have given so much.
Protecting the Values You Defend
The freedoms you protect abroad must be preserved here at home.
That belief guides my work as a public servant.
I am a strong supporter of our Constitution, including the Second Amendment. I believe in protecting individual freedoms, upholding the rule of law, and ensuring that government remains accountable to the people it serves.
At the county level, that means standing up for:
- Constitutional rights
- Private property rights
- Personal freedoms, including healthcare decisions
- A government that serves—not controls—its citizens
“Government should not micromanage our lives—but it must stand ready to serve when needed.”
Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability
Just as our military operates with discipline and accountability, I believe government should do the same.
As a rancher and small business owner, I understand the importance of living within your means. That’s why I’ve consistently advocated for responsible budgeting and sound financial management at the county level.
If the money isn’t there, the government should not be spending it.
Over the years, I’ve worked to:
- Help maintain balanced county budgets
- Oppose unnecessary spending
- Reject pay raises for myself
- Ensure taxpayer dollars are used responsibly
This approach has helped guide Amador County through challenging financial times while maintaining essential services.
“Fiscal responsibility isn’t just good policy—it’s a responsibility to every taxpayer.”
Supporting Those Who Serve at Home
While you serve our country, there are also those here at home who serve our community every day.
I have been a strong and consistent supporter of our first responders—law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel. These individuals put their lives on the line to protect our communities, just as you do on a larger scale.
During a time when support for law enforcement was under pressure nationwide, I took action—authoring a resolution in support of our local law enforcement that passed unanimously.
I’ve also worked to secure funding for critical infrastructure, including a $17 million grant to expand our county jail, ensuring our system can meet current and future needs.
Standing Up for Veterans and Families
Supporting those who serve doesn’t stop with active duty—it extends to veterans, seniors, and families throughout our community.
Over the years, I’ve supported programs that provide essential services to veterans, including assistance navigating benefits and access to local resources.
I’ve also contributed personally—donating my first year’s salary to senior services and supporting programs like Meals on Wheels, hospice care, and transportation services for those in need.
“We have a responsibility to take care of those who have taken care of us.”
Proven Leadership Through Experience
Having served multiple terms as your District 5 Supervisor, I’ve gained extensive knowledge of how county government operates—and how to make it work effectively for residents.
I’ve been re-elected because of the trust constituents place in me, and because I’ve remained consistent in my values and approach.
At a time when many communities are facing uncertainty and rapid change, experience matters.
I understand the challenges we face—from public safety and infrastructure to preserving our rural character—and I’m committed to making thoughtful, informed decisions that protect our community.
Looking Ahead
As I seek reelection, my goal remains the same: to continue serving with integrity, responsibility, and a commitment to the values that make Amador County a place we’re proud to call home.
There is more work to be done—supporting our economy, maintaining public safety, managing growth, and preserving the character of our community.
And I believe that by working together, we can meet those challenges.
“Together, we can protect what matters most and ensure a strong future for Amador County.”
An Open Line of Communication
If you are an active service member connected to Amador County—whether you’re stationed nearby or serving elsewhere—I want you to know that your voice matters.
I welcome the opportunity to hear from you, to understand your concerns, and to represent your interests.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out. Open communication is essential to good leadership, and I am always willing to listen.
With Gratitude and Respect
To every service member reading this: thank you.
Thank you for your sacrifice, your dedication, and your commitment to protecting our country. It is an honor to represent you and your families here in Amador County.
Brian Oneto for District 5 Supervisor
